In my freshman year of high school, my family stopped eating the fish I caught.
They were worried about the "forever chemicals" (PFAS) that were being measured in freshwater fish across the United States.
Getting a fish tested at a lab takes weeks and costs hundreds of dollars, and by the time the results come back, the fish has already gone bad. Testing for PFAS yourself is almost impossible, because it's measured in parts per billion.
So, to get a better understanding for myself, I built this tool. I hope it helps other people make safer decisions about the fish they eat.
